About

OUYA is a new kind of game console for the television that brings together an open development experience – where any creator can publish a game to the living room. They want to make gaming and game design accessibly to everyone, which got them thinking about the design elements on their console. Wanting to keep the sprit of freedom and openness going, they are working with BountyHunter to give any creative their shot to be featured on the OUYA console.

Opportunity

You will be creating a design for the background art shown on the console when gamers turn on their system and navigate through all of the different game and system menus. The winning entry will convey what OUYA stands for – openness, freedom, accessibility, and of course, gaming. See the current background and view for gamers using OUYA...

 

           

Eligibility

All creators are invited, but those that speak to what OUYA represents, and what OUYA means to you, will have the best chance of being selected.

Specifications

• Ensure the image speaks to what OUYA gaming represents, and what OUYA means to you.
• The file format .png, .jpg, jpeg is accepted for the preview image. max 20MB
• The preview image needs to be 320x240 pixels
• The PNG image (to put on the console) needs to be 1920x1080 pixels. 72 DPI. PSD max 20MB
• The source file needs to also be 1920x1080 pixels. 72 DPI. PSD max 20MB 
• Maximum of 5 submissions allowed

 

Timeline

Voting not available until after the submissions period. Submissions are for viewing until then.

Evaluation/Winning Criteria

40% Creativity, 30% Visual, 30% Applicable

 

After the Submission Period, NOW ALL entries are available to be voted on. During the Voting Period, the public will be able to vote for their favorite and ultimately have an influence on the decision of the Grand Prize winner.

 

Awards

Grand Prize:

• OUYA game console + $25 game credit + winning design will be featured on console for a limited time

 

Voter Prize:

Note: Voting will require a Facebook account

• The first 200 to voters will be eligible to win an OUYA hoodie (5 total) via a random drawing
• The next 300 voters will be eligible to win an OUYA t-shirt (5 total) via a random drawing
• All remaining voters will be eligible to win $10 OUYA credits (5 total) via a random drawing

Step 1

Utilize your imagination and creative skills to produce a wallpaper background that speaks to what OUYA represents, and what OUYA means to you.

Step 2

Submit your masterpiece on the competition form by clicking "ENTER NOW". Remember the following requirements:

1. Upload a preview image of 320x240 pixels

2. Upload a full image in PNG format that equates to 1920x1080 pixels. 72 DPI. under 20MB

3. Upload a full image in PSD format that also equates to 1920x1080 pixels. 72 DPI. under 20MB 

4. Fill out all the other information on the entry form​ (top half: private fields, bottom half: public fields)

5. Remember 5 submissions maximum

When the voting period starts (after the submission period) encourage all family members, friends, people in your local community, accomplices, pets, shepards, lawn gnomes, and especially wizards to vote for your submission! 

After the Submission Period, now all entries will be available to be voted on. During the Voting Period, the public will be able to vote for their favorite and ultimately influence the decision of the Grand Prize winner. Voters will be allowed one vote per day. Reminder: Voting will require a Facebook account.
